My New Year's Resolutions

Hardly anything new, but this time I made them more measurable & hopefully more achievable - read: easier, hahaha).  You might wonder why I would publish my resolutions, instead of keeping them for myself (thus putting myself in a big risk of humiliation if any of them does not materialize).  Well, I read somewhere that publishing your resolutions, or any commitment in that matter really, will physchologically boost your confidence and therefore increase the chance to win the war.  Whenever possible, I'll post some updates every now and then, no promises though, teehee...

So here are my 2011 New Year's Resolutions (drum rolling) in no particular order:

01. Read one book every two months
02. Get Group Trainer-certified
03. Get promoted to a higher post
04. Get myself a 6-pack
05. Learn 20 new Japanese words monthly
06. Post two blog postings monthly
07. Achieve 50 visits to my blog monthly

Yeah, all sound simple, but isn't it the simple things that we tend to neglect?  For example, reading one (just one) book every two months (yes, it is 60 days) sound really easy, but fact is, I only finished two books in 2010 (one of them was a Sophie Kinsella's).  Not because I hate reading, really.  I mean, when I was in high school, I always carried books everywhere I went.  But it seems that somewhere along the line my preference has diverted towards papers & magazines, including the twice daily Arabian Business e-newsletter, the daily Time Out Dubai Restaurants Guide, and 7 Days (that's a Dubai tabloid, for the uninitiated).  I have always promised myself I would start reading books like I used to, but because reading books isn't as grand as, say, going to the Arctic, I never took it seriously, and as a result, I have not even finished reading this self-help book I've been reading for one year!!

Eight days into 2011 and I am pretty glad I'm still on track.  So far, I have posted two blog postings this month (yippee!!), 11 visits to my blog (OK, admittedly 50 is a really, really ridiculously low number), and 6 new Japanese words so far (on track).  I am also still very far away from a 4-pack, let alone a 6-pack (although I am quite happy with how I look *sshhh).

I also bumped on a great motivational quote a couple of days back.  It says:

"Success does not come to you?  You go to it!" by Marva Collins

So, responding to Success' calling, I'm heading to it!  Wish me luck!!
