April 2011 Results

Well, what should I say?  As expected, April was a very hectic one for me and tada, it is already May.  And not just it's already May, it is the of 18th May!  And I have not had time to even update you readers on how my keeping up with the resolutions was last month, which if I can sum in just one word: disappointing!
May started off with a bit of fresh breeze.  I’ve got a new boss and two new joiners in the department.  So far so good, all three of them seem nice and friendly and while I can’t say we are bestfriends, we go along quite well.  So far so good, except when my new boss gets very keen to do a huge reform on, well, practically everything and I just realized how sluggish I had become.  I mean, I was so used to doing the routine stuffs that my creative mind has somehow become idle.  The arrival of my new boss, then, was a damn good wake-up call which forced me out off my comfort zone.
If you continue to do what you do, you will always get what you get,” she says.  So off we started!
What appeared like a petty mission was actually not as petty.  In fact, it was a huge pile of mess we were trying to clean.  Imagine yourself sitting on a couch continuously for days eating chips, drinking beer and watching rugby, throwing garbage and leftovers as you wish.  And then your parents called up to say they are in town and are dropping by to say hi in an hour’s time!  Well, that’s the kind of situation I was in back then.... and here I am now, exhausted and had to take my first sick leave in more than a year.
Well, exhausting though it was, I do not regret the time and effort I took to get this all done.  Not just because it is actually a part of my job, but more because of how it stimulated my creative mind, which has been hibernating for a bit too long, again.
OK, so here we go with my progress in April:

One Book Every Month – I finished my April book, Girls of Riyadh¸ a bit late than what I expected.  Admittedly because it turned out to be not as interesting, although as insightful, as I expected.  I have started reading my May book called A Moveable Feast, an anthology of short stories about food, or rather, the eating part of it, written by some of the world’s most passionate travellers and compiled and published by no other than the mahaguru of world travel, Lonely Planet.  I have yet to write a review on Girls of Riyadh, though.
Getting A Six Pack – Not quite there yet (or anywhere close), but I am happy to say that I visited the gym more frequently than I did in March and did a couple of short exercises every morning.  Yeah!
Twenty Japanese Words of Phrases – Pfff, I failed miserably on this.  I didn’t learn even a single word last month and the words I learned in March went straight off to the outer space.
Two New Blog Posts – I wrote a record-breaking six posts in March and in April, I broke another record again, except that this time it was the exact opposite.  I only wrote one post last month, BUT…

50 Blog Visits – Somehow I managed to get more than 50 visits, God knows how.  In April, this blog received 114 visits, making April the second highest number of visits per month in the blog’s history.  What’s even more exciting is that I have already received 112 visits in May, which practically means I have surpassed the target, again.
Well, that’s about it, Pals.  See you soon!
